Dr. Dodds has over 30 years’ experience leading interdisciplinary process development groups combining biological and chemical technologies.
He has worked with BioChemInsights for over 10 years and is an inventor on all the BCI patents covering the electrochemical regeneration of NADH, to allow metabolic pathways to reach 100% carbon efficiency and to both avoid CO2 production and allow its use as a carbon source.
Dr Dodds has provided interim CTO service for a number of start-ups in bio/pharma, industrial biotech and renewable chemicals, most recently Azitra, Inc., a microbiome
company where he was responsible for the CMC aspects and preparation of clinical bulk material of an LBP, and Galy, Co. a start-up in the field of cellular farming, where he was responsible for scale-up of plant cell culture processes, and the development of low-cost bioreactors.
He regularly appears on panels at renewable/biobased chemical conferences such as ABLC and Scaling-Up, and was one of the charter members of the executive for the Industrial Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology Committee of ASTM.
Dr. Dodds pursued post-doctoral work in molecular biology with Marvin Caruthers at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry under Bryan Jones at the University of Toronto.
